A Few of My Favorite Things….. Part 2

These are a few of the plants I want to grow in my shade garden. We have to find time to expand it first, so for now, I enjoy them in the greenhouse.

Bleeding hearts

When I started working here, we only had 1 fern leafed type and 2 old fashioned types, pink and white. Now we also have Goldheart and Valentine.

I love them! When I expand my shade garden, I am definitely getting a Valentine.

Sweet Kate Spiderwort
I love the combination of chartreuse foliage and electric blue flowers.

They add a unique POP to your garden especially in the shade.

Astilbe
I can’t pick a favorite Astilbe because I love them all. When you walk through the Astilbe houses when they are in bloom, the scent is amazing.

But,  the one that has stood out this year is the Younique Carmine.

The color is so different from the others that we grow.

Trollius

Isn’t it beautiful? It can grow in sun and shade and it is excellent for cutting.

Heuchera
There are sooooo many to pick from!

If I had to choose only two, I think I would pick Snow Angel and Fire Alarm.

Snow Angel has the combination of flowers and foliage.

Fire Alarm has such rich color. Can you see that POPPING against some hostas?
