Spring Virtual Seminars
- March 6 – Succulent Make at Home $75
Succulents are low maintenance and trendy. Join us for a virtual workshop where you will receive a kit with an 8″ concrete container and five 3″ succulents as well as the sand and decorative boulder to finish off the container. - March 13 – Seed Selection & Starting $5
Join us for an interactive zoom where we will cover how and when to start your own vegetables from seed. Topics we will cover include seed selection, starting your seeds, timing and eventually planting them outside. CLICK HERE TO REGISTER!
- March 20 – Terrarium Make at Home $75
Our expert host will guide your team through the terrarium-building process, providing tips and insight on how to care for the plants to help them thrive. These terrariums are easy to care for and add a nice touch of nature to any indoor setting. CLICK HERE TO REGISTER!
- March 27 - Bulbs and Fairies Make at Home $75
Create your very own magical spring bulb garden! In this workshop we will have a little fun creating a bright and cheery spring arrangement. We will be using ready to bloom bulbs, moss, curly willow, a live potted fern, and potted ivy. CLICK HERE TO REGISTER!
- April 8 or 10 - Hanging Basket Potting Event $75
Come get your hands dirty with us at Sargent's North! You will enjoy creating your very own basket combination and we will grow it out for you until it is ready to be picked up. Classes are being offered April 8th at 5pm and April 10th at 10am and 1pm. CLICK HERE TO REGISTER!
- 2021 Kitchen Garden Class $300
Join us for a season long, hands-on vegetable gardening class here at Sargent’s North location! We will provide the garden plot, plants and seeds, tools, water, and deer protection. Beginning April 28, classes will be held every other week and run from April-September (See dates below). Experienced gardeners will be there to guide you throughout the season. Participants will take home items harvested during class with between class harvesting set up as needed. Led by Cathy Maxson with the help of long-time gardeners Jay Johnson, Alan Hale, and Lisa Malone plus certified herbalist Brigitte Heublein. Cost of class is $300 and due at sign up. Wee Wednesdays!
At Sargent’s, we are committed to helping kids get out and enjoy the great outdoors through gardening. Wee Wednesdays are designed for preschool and kindergarten aged children to do just that!
All classes include hands-on activities, a story and a tasty treat. Classes start at 9:30am and 10:30am the third Wednesday of the month. A $9 class fee covers supplies and snacks. Please plan to stay with your child(ren).

April 21 – Canvas and Cookies (Sargent’s North)
Spring is in the air. Your child will enjoy eating cookies and painting a colorful flower to brighten their day.
May 19 – Beanpole Teepee Garden (Sargent’s North)
Time for garden fun! Come hear the classic beanstalk story. Plus, help us build a teepee garden fort for growing beans.
June 16 – Water Gardening (Sargent’s North)
Come and explore the pond with us as we learn about plants that like to grow in water. We will pot a water plant just for fun!
July 21 – I Spy – Identifying Things In Nature (Sargent’s North)
Join us for a scavenger hunt at Sargent’s Garden Center. Kids will get to explore and seek out nature’s treasures.
August 18 – The Raptors Are Coming! (Sargent’s North)
Come and enjoy a lesson on birds and raptors from our friends at Oxbow Park. Kids will get to see live owls and learn why birds are important to have around. (ONE CLASS ONLY – 10:30)
September 15 – Big Machines (Sargent’s North)
Don’t miss this demo of the big machines we use to make beautiful land scapes! Skid loaders to move lots of dirt and excavators to lift big rocks.
October 20 – Textures of Fall (Sargent’s North)
Use crayon and paper to bring garden textures to life. We will learn that leaves do much more than make great piles for jumping.
November 17 – Globe Gardens (Sargent’s on 2nd)
Join us as we create a winter terrarium scene to enjoy all season long.
December 15 – My Wee Christmas Tree (Sargent’s on 2nd)
Decorate your very own “wee” Christmas tree with oodles of sparkly, bright trimmings. This Wee Wednesday tradition will include a reading of Mr. Willoby’s Christmas Tree and a tree that lives well beyond the holidays.
