Colors for Spring 2020!

The Sargent’s production staff is getting geared up to start planting for the 2020 season. The smell of soil, spring and beautiful annuals will soon be filling the greenhouses. Every year we make sure to keep our eyes out for the latest and greatest annuals coming out. Here are some highlights on a few of the fun new annuals we are planning to add this year.

‘Roman Red’ Salvia

This is a large bodied salvia that grows great in the landscape or in a large combination planter. Attracts butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds and is heat and drought tolerant. Continuous blooms from spring to fall. Grown in our 1 gallon green pots.

‘Blackcurrant Punch’ Calibrachoa

Blackcurrant Punch has large, fuchsia colored flowers with a dark center. Look for this in combination hanging baskets and planters as well as in our 4.5” pots

’First Knight’ Pennisetum

The attractive grassy leaves emerge grayish green in spring, turning burgundy in color with pointy deep purple spines and tinges of black. As the temps cool, the foliage turns a gorgeous deep purple in the fall.

Cuphea is a heat lover and will do best in warm gardens with bright light. Always keep this plant in full sun for best flowering.  Keep moist throughout the growing season, regular fertilizing will keep it full and constantly flowering.
