Garden Center Supervisor – North Location
Position Overview: A Garden Center Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that the department runs efficiently and meets the company’s standards for product quality, customer service, and inventory management. This role involves supervising a team of garden center associates (approximately 2-4 people), maintaining a well-stocked and organized environment, and providing expert guidance on plant care, garden products, and landscaping needs. Direct communication with the Assistant Store Managers (ASM) of staffing needs daily is vital, as the needs can change quickly. This role is essential to creating and maintaining beautiful, thriving plant environments for our clients. The ideal candidate will have a passion for plants and horticulture, a keen eye for detail, and a strong commitment to providing top-tier customer service.
Position Focus: The primary goal of this role is to provide exceptional customer service and demonstrate a high level of knowledge of the products and services offered within the garden center. This role may also be tasked with a key focus within the department, such as Annual or Perennial areas. Success in this position will be measured by customer satisfaction, staff performance, and achievement of sales and inventory management goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Supervision:
- Leads the team to success by ensuring efficient operations and high standards of customer service.
- Works with the store manager to review and set endcaps with promotional and cross promotional items.
- Trains and promotes a positive work environment that encourages professional growth.
- Assigns daily tasks and sets priorities for team members. Works with Ops ASM and Store Manager to set larger tasks (fixture moves, repairs, etc.) while ensuring daily goals are met in an organized manner.
- Works with other department supervisors and ASMs to ensure coverage of the registers in times of need.
- Completes daily orders for our production department as well as outside vendors as needed.
- Work availability includes a minimum of two weekends per month with additional weekend availability from April – July.
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least two years of experience in a retail setting, with leadership experience
- Knowledge of plants, gardening, and plant care best practices
- Customer service experience with a focus on assisting customers and answering plant-related questions.
- Register/POS experience
Compensation & Benefits:
- Wage rate: $18.40-$22.28
