Greenhouse Supervisor Assistant

A greenhouse supervisor assistant’s primary job in greenhouse production is to assist the greenhouse supervisors and growers by leading small teams of people in day-to-day tasks. A supervisor assistant will learn all facets of the production department as it relates to planting, watering, spraying for insects and disease, pest scouting, shipping, and caring for plant material. The supervisor assistant will take direction from the Production Supervisors and Managers to assist with daily tasks as needed.

You Have:

  • Ability to learn and operate greenhouse watering systems i.e., booms, echoes, drip lines, outdoor irrigation systems.
  • Capacity to assist in pesticide applications for harmful insects and diseases on annual and perennial plant material.
  • Capability to learn all aspects of the planting line to eventually be able to be a shift supervisor on the planting line.
  • Minimum weekend availability of two weekends per month throughout the season with higher availability from April to mid-June.
  • Friendly, motivated, hardworking team player attitude that enjoys working in the outdoors.
  • Love for plants and the desire to learn.
  • Ability to work as part of a team or individually.
  • Skill for hand-watering, weeding, deadheading, pulling landscape, contractor, and garden center orders.
  • Ability to keep detailed records when planting, shipping, and pulling orders. 
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in inclement weather.
  • Physically capable of bending, twisting, being on one’s feet for long hours, and lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to assist in other departments, i.e. garden center, ornamental potted trees and shrubs (woody plants), and field work with trees.
  • Capability to assist with covering of greenhouses, covering of plants at end of season, cleaning and shutting down greenhouses and all end of season tasks.
  • Ability to drive the delivery truck to the 2nd street store when needed.

Wage Rate: $18-$18.50 per hour.
