Mulled Cider Mix
8 cinnamon sticks
2 whole nutmegs, crushed
1/3 cup whole cloves
1/3 cup dried orange zest, minced
1/4 cup allspice, whole
In a large bowl, combine all of the ingredients. Tie in one tablespoon batches in a small cheesecloth. One bag makes enough to flavor one quart of cider. To make the mulled cider, put one bag in a saucepan with one quart of cider and bring to a boil over medium heat. Simmer slowly for 20 minutes. Discard the bag. Serve with a cinnamon stick in each cup. Variation: Add 1/4 cup dark rum.
