May Recap 2016

The month of May went by like a whirlwind. We were so busy that I didn’t get a chance to blog!

Mother’s day weekend was a trifecta of amazing weather that I’ve never seen before.

This was my view Mother’s Day morning. A beautiful sunrise and carts full of baskets. We shipped constantly the entire weekend. We moved through almost the first 2 crops of combo baskets in the first 2 weeks of May.

We did get some rain afterwards but that meant we were able to get caught up on planting so it worked out alright.

Our Dahlias were and are gorgeous. We grew a bunch this year and so far each crop has sold within a week of staring to bloom. They are all so pretty that I can’t pick a favorite.

Here are a few more shots of all the beautiful plants we grew this spring.

Snapdragons and Geraniums.

Nicotiana and Marigolds.

We planted our summer crop of Annuals about mid-May. We are experimenting with the same watering technique we use for growing mums on part of our summer crop.  We made splitters for the boom nozzles to accommodate watering 12 plants in a row rather than 6.

It is a little harder to make adjustments to the pot placement because they are much closer together, but I think it will work just fine. It is so much nicer to grow in this house rather than the older ones because the airflow is so much better.

See you next time!
