The First Week of Planting 2017

Well, the weather has been pretty interesting lately! By Friday morning, we had 10 inches of snow with more on the way. And this was after enjoying more than a week of T-shirt weather. Mother Nature can’t give us anything without taking her due, can she? On the upside, snow makes everything so very pretty!

On to the Greenhouse update!

Paul started heating the Greenhouses on Sunday, he usually starts a day or so before we expect plants to work out any kinks that may arise. It is a good thing he does! We weren’t expecting a shipment until Tuesday but we were surprised by our first shipment arriving Monday morning. Guess what we got….

Geranium Plugs

Geraniums!

Planting Area

We still had some cleaning to do and set up to finish. But, we had the planting line running by Tuesday afternoon. The Planting team was able to knock out 948 hanging baskets and 639 tubs in about 2 ½ days. Talk about rocking it!

Filling the greenhouse up

All of the Sargent’s grown geranium tubs have been planted. We are adding a new series of tub Geraniums this year. We will have the ‘Big Ezee’ series as well as the ‘Allure’s that we have been growing for past few seasons.

Fuchsia Hanging Baskets

The first crops of Fuchsia baskets and Combo baskets are also done. I love Fuchsias. I think the flowers look like little ballerinas. ‘Winston Churchill’ is a new variety for us. It will be fun to see it bloom. It looks like it has similar colors as Dollar Princess’ but in a daintier form.
